Ebanguka is an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) platform provided by Etite. It comprises a web dispatch dashboard and a mobile application used by ambulance crews (paramedics and drivers) employed by medical facilities and emergency-response agencies. This policy explains what personal data the platform collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.

The mobile app is intended for authorized EMS personnel only — it is not a consumer application.

Information we collect

  • Account & professional identity — your name, email, phone number, assigned role, facility, and ambulance, used to sign you in and authorize your actions.
  • Precise location (GPS) — while you are on an active shift, the app shares your ambulance's real-time location with dispatch so cases can be assigned and routed. This location sharing runs in the background while you are on duty and stops when your shift ends or you sign out.
  • Camera & photos — selfies captured at shift check-in and check-out (to verify attendance) and any photos you attach to an emergency case.
  • Case & health information — clinical details about emergency cases and patients that crews record in the app. This is sensitive personal data and is handled accordingly.
  • Device & notification data — a push notification token (via Google Firebase Cloud Messaging) so the app can alert you the moment a case is assigned, plus basic device information and app activity logs used for reliability and security.

How we use your information

  • Coordinate and dispatch ambulances to emergency cases.
  • Deliver time-critical case-assignment alerts to on-duty crews.
  • Record shift attendance (check-in / check-out).
  • Maintain clinical case records and support continuity of patient care.
  • Ensure operational safety, audit activity, improve quality, and meet legal and regulatory obligations.

Location and notifications

Live location is collected only while you are on an active shift, including when the app is in the background, so dispatch can see and route your ambulance. It is not collected when you are off duty or signed out. Notifications are used solely to alert crews to assigned cases and shift events — not for marketing.

How we share information

We do not sell personal data. We share it only:

  • within the medical facility or agency that employs you, and with authorized dispatchers and receiving hospitals, as needed to handle a case;
  • with service providers that operate the platform on our behalf (for example, Google Firebase for push notifications and infrastructure), under appropriate confidentiality and data- protection terms;
  • where required by law or to protect the safety of patients, crews, or the public.

Data retention

We retain personal and case data for as long as necessary to deliver emergency medical services and to meet your employer's record-keeping, clinical, and legal requirements, after which it is deleted or anonymized.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and protected by role-based access controls so that personnel can only access the information their role requires. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data appropriately.

Your rights

Subject to Rwandan data-protection law (Law No. 058/2021 relating to the protection of personal data and privacy), you may request access to, correction of, or information about the personal data we hold about you. Contact us using the details below.

Children

Ebanguka is a professional tool for authorized EMS staff and is not directed to children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date.

Closing your account & deleting your data

Ebanguka accounts are created and managed by the medical facility or agency that employs you; the app has no public sign-up. You can request deletion of your account and the personal data associated with it at any time — see Request data deletion or contact your administrator. Some records — clinical case data and audit / employment records — may be retained where your employer is legally required to keep them.
